Jane Nichols (Katherine Heigl) has been a bridesmaid for twenty-seven weddings. One night when she is attending two weddings almost simultaneously, she meets Kevin Doyle (James Marsden), who helps her home but disgusts her with his cynical views of marriage and steals her planner.
Meanwhile, Jane's sister Tess (Malin Akerman) falls in love with her boss George (Edward Burns). Tess pretends to like the same things George does so that she can get him to like her; despite loving George herself, Jane does not reveal the truth and the courtship progresses rapidly. Soon the new couple announce that they intend to marry in only three weeks. The reporter who agrees to cover their wedding for the society page turns out to be Kevin, who writes wedding announcements under a pseudonym. The reason he stole Jane's planner was so he could gather material for a piece on the "perennial bridesmaid" and hopefully be promoted to writing investigative pieces about "real" news.
Jane is unaware of Kevin's intentions, and when he asks to interview her for his column on Tess, gets her to try on all 27 bridesmaids dresses in her closet. He takes pictures of her in all of them and sends the completed article to his boss. As they get to know each other because of Tess's wedding, Kevin begins to think that Jane is not as one-dimensional as he thought, and asks his editor to hold his article so he can "fix" it.
His editor runs the article anyway on the front page of the Commitments section, and Jane is furious at him. Tess then gets angry at Jane for giving Kevin material about her, whom he describes as bridezilla. The fight escalates when Jane realizes that Tess destroyed their late mother's wedding dress to make her own gown.
Despite the fight, Tess still asks Jane to make a slideshow to show at her engagement party. Jane decides that George should know the truth about Tess and instead runs pictures of Tess with other men, eating ribs, and holding a cat by the tail - in short, doing all the things she had told George that she never did. After the young Hispanic child, Pedro, that George mentors tells the crowd that Tess had them cleaning his apartment for money, George breaks off the engagement.
Later at work, George tells Jane that he appreciates her because she never says no. Remembering that Kevin once said the same thing as a criticism, Jane quits and admits she only stayed at the job because she was in love with George. She discovers after an experimental kiss that she no longer loves him and decides to meet Kevin. She announces in front of the entire crowd at a wedding that he is covering that she is in love with him.
One year later at Jane and Kevin's wedding, George and Tess meet again. All 27 brides she helped, as well as Tess and Casey, her best friend, are her bridesmaids.

Margaret Tate is the executive editor in chief of a book publishing company, Ruick & Hunt Publishing. Her workers strongly dislike her for her bossy, cold demeanor. After learning she is being deported to Canada, she forces her assistant Andrew Paxton to marry her, as his future is tied to hers. Andrew conditionally agrees to marry Margaret.
The two spend the weekend with his parents in Sitka, Alaska in order to sell the lie, where they will be attending the 90th birthday party of Andrew's grandmother Annie. Margaret is unreceptive of Alaska, and is shocked to learn that Andrew's family owns most of the business in Sitka. They attend a surprise party for them, where Andrew catches up with his ex girlfriend Gerthy. After he is humiliated by his father, Joe Paxton, Andrew announces that he and Margaret are getting married.
One morning the family suggest they could marry the same weekend, an idea they reluctantly accept. Andrew is stressed because the marriage is actually a sham, and Margaret tries to comfort and convince him, finding herself genuinely caring for him. To sort out her emotions, she goes for a bike ride into the woods, where she finds Annie "giving thanks" in a ritual. Annie invites her to join her, and they end up dancing, while Andrew watches.
One day Mr. Gilbertson, the U.S. immigrations official who is investigating Margaret's visa application, is contacted by Joe, and states that Andrew won't be criminally punished if he admits the marriage is a scam, but Margaret will be deported to Canada. Andrew, who now cares deeply about Margaret, vehemently denies that the relationship is a lie.
During the wedding ceremony, Margaret decides she cannot marry Andrew and confesses the business arrangement in front of everyone, including Mr. Gilbertson, who informs her she has twenty four hours to get back to Canada. Since Margaret admitted to the scam, Andrew does not get jail time. Margaret returns to New York to pack her things. Andrew rushes to their room only to find she has already left, leaving his manuscript with a note of praise from her on the bed. As he rushes out of the house to confront Margaret, another argument arises between Joe and Andrew. Annie has a heart attack while trying to stop them and while being airlifted to the hospital, she convinces Joe and Andrew to quit arguing before she "passes away". Once they agree, Annie reveals she had faked it, just so they would stop fighting and try to make it to the plane to stop Margaret from going back to New York. Andrew attempts to stop Margaret's flight, but cannot do so in time. Andrew then rushes to New York and shows up at the office where he confesses his love for Margaret in front of the entire office staff, proposing marriage all over again as he "wants to date Margaret." The two go to Mr. Gilbertson once more to get engaged, this time "for real."
As the end credits roll, Gilbertson interrogates not only Andrew and Margaret, but also Joe, Grace, Annie, Ramone (the exotic dancer from Margaret's bachelorette party), and Kevin (Andrew's family's dog).

A Good Year (2006)
As a longtime fan of Russell Crowe, I do know that he can be funny, charming, sweet and romantic, not only on film but in real life. His recent appearances on the TV promotional circuit have proved this once again. Those who only know his films since LA Confidential for the most part focus on his ability to capture and project power, strength and inner turmoil. Those who have seen his films such as Proof, For the Moment, Love In Limbo and The Sum of Us have seen his ability to show the gentler, funnier and often more uncertain sides of the human experience. (I would also argue that these are readily seen in his films such as The Insider, A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man.) A Good Year is a wonderful return to the Russell of those earlier films. Like a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie, you know just where it's likely going to take you, but with such lovely, engaging people in such a wonderful setting you just want to enjoy the trip. And so you shall. What a refreshing change from the overheated, oversexed, over special "effected" and over bloodied fare that Hollywood usually dishes out. Thank you so much Mr. Crowe and Mr. Scott for my little vacation in the South of France!

Anna (Amy Adams) travels to Dublin, Ireland to propose to her boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) on February 29, leap day, because according to Irish tradition, a woman can propose to a man on February 29 during a leap year.[3] While mid-flight to Dublin, there is a storm and the plane diverts to Cardiff, Wales. Anna hires a boat to take her to Cork, but the severity of the storm forces her to be put ashore on the Dingle Peninsula. She enlists the help of a surly Irish innkeeper, Declan (Matthew Goode), to taxi her across the country to Dublin to pull off the proposal in time, and begins to question her intentions with Jeremy when she makes a connection with Declan.
At first, Declan refuses to drive Anna to Dublin, but after his inn is threatened with foreclosure the next morning, he agrees to drive for €500. The two set out in Declan's rickety car, but they quickly run into a herd of cows. Anna shoos them away but steps in cow dung, causing her to lean against the car, which wheels back into a lake. Angry at Declan Anna walks away from him she stops a car for a lift and after offering to take her bag they drive away with her luggage to the delight of Declan. The two eventually reach a bar where they discover the men going through Anna's luggage Declan punches them and they are both kicked out by the landlord. They eventually reach a train station by foot. While passing time waiting for the train at a nearby castle, Declan asks Anna what she would save if her apartment caught fire, and she is unable to answer. The train arrives early, and Anna misses it. The two go to a bed and breakfast, where they are forced to say that they are married so they are allowed to stay by their conservative hosts. During dinner, Anna and Declan are forced to kiss, which causes some confusion for them. That night, they hesitantly sleep in the same bed. The next day they take shelter from a hail storm in a church where a wedding is taking place. At the reception, Declan reveals that he was once engaged, but that his ex-fiance ran off with his best friend, and his family ring, to Dublin.
The next day they arrive, by bus, in Dublin. When Anna reached Jeremy's hotel he proposes to her, and she accepts with hesitation as Declan walks away. At their engagement party, Anna finds out that Jeremy proposed to her in an effort to impress the manager of the ritzy condominium the two were attempting to buy. Dismayed, Anna pulls the fire alarm and watches as Jeremy grabs all the electronics before fleeing. Anna goes back to the Dingle Peninsula, where Declan is successfully running his inn. She proposes that they get together to "not make plans", and Declan leaves the room. Anna interprets this as rejection, so she goes outside and stands at a cliff over the sea. Declan follows her out and proposes to her with the ring he retrieved from his ex-fiance while in Dublin. Some time after, the two are shown driving in Declan's car with a 'Just Married' sign in the back.

"I came into watching this film with relatively high expectations, but it succeeded in exceeding them! It is an incredible film, with an interesting and heartbreaking story, wonderful performances (I especially enjoyed seeing the talented young Banquero again), and an excellent evocation of the Spanish Civil War that is a little more balanced (as far as showing atrocities on both sides instead of just one) than most. The interesting use of old archived footage interspersed with dramatized scenes added to the war atmosphere. But while it is something of a historical/war drama, the main heart is the enduring love between the anarchist of the title and his wife, that survives time, distance, tragedy, and the horrors of war--it is really a family drama and love story set in the Spanish Civil War more than a movie about the war itself.In any case, it is well worth seeing, for both the story and the performances, if you have the chance. The musical score was lovely as well."

Hana-bi 1997
Hana-bi (はなび HANA-BI), released in the US as "Fireworks", is a 1997 Japanese film written, directed and edited by, and starring Japanese filmmaker Takeshi Kitano.[1] The film's score was composed by renowned Japanese composer, Joe Hisaishi. This was their fourth collaboration. Hana-bi (花火 Hanabi) is the Japanese word for "fireworks".
The unexpected international success of Hana-bi, coupled with Sonatine's critical acclaim, established Kitano as a foremost Japanese filmmaker of his time.
Kitano's daughter and former singer Shoko Kitano also made a cameo, playing a nameless girl flying a kite in the film's closing scenes.
